To pool our efforts, some events are run in association with our partners. Synergies have also been developed at a national level with trade associations, chambers of commerce, the Walloon Export Agency (AWEX) and Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), as well as at a regional level with Brussels-based public and private stakeholders.
Types of events
Foreign buyers and decision-makers are invited to Brussels to meet companies whose products/services may be of interest to them. At the end of a seminar outlining their markets, they can meet companies individually.
Why take part? The prospective Belgian suppliers are pre-selected by the buyers on the basis of their profiles. This ensures effectiveness for both parties.
These days allow Brussels-based exporters from the same sector to meet key contacts in a specific market, i.e. a cluster, a holding company, a buying group, etc.
Why take part? A unique opportunity for SMEs to make contact with large, hard to access organisations.
Economic and trade missions take companies to the countries in which they want to canvass. They facilitate contacts with target partners, chiefly through:
- B2B meetings
- Seminars outlining Brussels' know-how
- Group visits
- Political meetings with local authorities
Why take part? An essential first approach to the market before entering it.
This involves bringing together companies taking part in an international trade fair under the Brussels banner (or the Belgian banner for inter-regional collaborations). Bruxelles Invest & Export handles all the logistics, i.e. reservations, decoration, shipping and catering.
Why take part? The company receives a "turnkey" stand and benefits from the image of the Belgium or Brussels brand.
Group visits to international trade fairs are also organised to assess the attractiveness of taking part as a group the following year. These visits give a flavour of the fair, as well as the market and trends in the sector.
The company Flexmail explains what it learned from the participation at the CeBIT trade fair in Hannover whilst cooperating with Brussels Invest & Export.
Largely serving the creative industries, these events give Brussels-based companies visibility and a presence at major forums:
- Networking receptions at international film festivals
- Award ceremonies in the worlds of fashion and publishing
- Getting companies into the trade directories of foreign events
- Tastings and demonstrations in the food sector
Why take part? These events are an excellent shop window for your company and an opportunity to widen your network of contacts.
